LAU granted the “Enabling Student Mobility Award 2014”
We are pleased to announce that on December 9, 2014, Ellucian (providers of the Banner Student Information System) awarded LAU the “Enabling Student Mobility award 2014”. The award was presented to LAU for being the first University in the region to provide its students with the Ellucian Platform Edition Mobile Application that delivers most of their Banner-related tasks on their smart phones and …tablets.
The mobile application enables students with smart devices (Apple and Android) to view their grades, classes and final exam schedules, find their way around the Beirut and Byblos campuses, in addition to other informational services.
The IT Applications and Solutions (ITAS) team implemented the Ellucian Platform Edition Mobile application during the academic year 2013/2014 with the internal IT resources. During the implementation, they also recommended new features and enhancements that were well received by Ellucian and incorporated in the later release.
The award was presented to Mr. Camille Abou-Nasr, AVPIT, by Jeff Ray, President and CEO of Ellucian during the closing ceremony of Middle East User Group. During the User group’s activities, the LAU IT team presented the LAU vision for enabling student mobility. The presentation drew crowds from various universities, especially Lebanese participants who showed a lot of interest in our approach.
